The film “Fury” itself, while inspired by a mix-match of multiple different war stories, is completely fictional.
The Fury tank itself never existed but was based on the stories of real life Shermans during WW2, notably “Bomb” a Canadian Sherman that fought and survived heavy combat from D-Day onwards until the end of the war.

This also extends to the crews of the tanks, where the directors drew inspiration from real life servicemen, including an Allied tank commander who was actually given the nickname of “Wardaddy”.
Fury wasn’t actually a real tank from WW2 and neither was the story real. However, the movie did take heavy inspiration from real stories of both tanks and their crew that served throughout the war.
