Because it was simply a stretched Lancaster.
The RAF needed a bomber for the war against Japan with a significantly greater range than the Lanc. The Lincoln was the result.
Bigger all round, wider wings and more powerful Merlins. But, crews who had trained on Lancs could switch with minimal extra training. Easy to fly - even on two engines!
The B-29 was a generation further on. Much bigger, much faster and much higher.
The Japanese struggled to reach the B-29’s operating altitude and then found their speed hard to deal with.
At Avro, Roy Chadwick, also jumped a generation and produced the Vulcan.
